how do i gain the password in order to stop on access protection or to set other changes in the avast home edition?
If you forgot it, well, uninstall avast and install again
If you’re not the administrator of the computer, well, it’s better to ask him/her before ;D
well, i am the administrator and there is only 1 user on my XP. i don’t recall i ever determined any password!? i remember that in past, stooping on access protection and other changes did not needed password at all!
lets say i uninstall and install again: in what stage do i determine the password?
Manually, after the installation and booting, right clicking the icon. It’s an option, an user choice… it’s not a part of the installation process.
Could anybody else that uses the computer have messed this? :
no way someone else did any thing. its my PC only.
BTW, right click on the icon and then what option should i choose? because doing so now (on the “setqchange password” option is asking me to “enter old password”! after installation i dont have to put the “old” one?
Sure, for security reasons… you need to uninstall avast.
No. 8)
Usually the uninstall will overcome the password issue. Did you uninstall it using the same account you installed it ?
Something must be being stored somewhere, download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD so you can find it later.
Uninstall, boot, run uninstall utility, boot, install.
only today i had chance to deal with it - and im good now!!
thanks!
I’m glad that your problem is now resolved, can you confirm what you did ?
A belated welcome to the forums.
Uninstalled, boot, ran uninstall utility, boot, install.
After that, Manually, after the installation and booting, right clicking theblue icon and choosing my personal password.
