We’re a business customer with a business protection license. All of our workstation users are now receiving intrusive and annoying license reminders.
As a business customer we have a software license partner and do not need every installation of Avast pestering our staff to renew our license. Our license will be renewed in due course.
We’ve purchased Avast on a 12 month cycle not 11, I assume part of the motivation here is to ensure that customers renew early thus bringing forward the renewal data from a 12 to 11 month cycle.
How do we turn off these almost malware like annoying nagging popups? We’ve tried silent mode but we’re still receiving these notifications several times a day.
It’s perfectly reasonable to remind customers that a license is coming up for a renewal but surely it’s equally reasonable to allow users to acknowledge the reminder and to turn it off especially for business customers?
This is a deeply unprofessional way to deal with business customers, an anti-virus should be as unobtrusive as possible, in effect our AV solution is behaving as little more than cheap malware at present.
From my experience, the nag screen cannot be disabled. The risk factor is, at the moment of expiration, the product will stop with no protection. Your best move may be to renew, and have your old license merged into your new license, in case the time doesn’t transfer.
By the way - as a business, I view this way of thinking as absolutely terrifying.
The product should not put a business at risk because someone is having trouble with a reseller issuing a license file, or the new version doesn’t like the license file, or whatever… How hard would it be to notify the admins setup in the console via email of the upcoming expiration and ONLY START THE NAG SCREENS ON THE BUSINESS CLIENTS AFTER THE LICENSE ACUTALLY EXPIRES? While still functioning for a 90 day grace period (nagging all the while) prior to a total shutodown or etc.
Cannot agree more… even for non-bussines users, one reminder/week would be more than enough.
If I remember correctly, license for usage is valid indefinitely, only updates are time-limited, so it would be perfectly OK to remind end user only after update license has expired, in case admin forgot to renew
In version 7 of Avast click on Settings on the top right corner of the screen and enter “admin” for your password and go down to Silent/Gaming Mode and click on the box next to Silent/Gaming Mode and No Avast! messages/pop-ups/alerts will be displayed.
