aswDisp.exe in Terminal Server?

I’m new to avast! and am wondering if it’s possible to prevent the aswDisp.exe process from loading for each user logged into the terminal server?

Thanks,

Rodd

Why would you want to do that?
aswDisp.exe is the component reponsible for user interaction - showing the messages on the particular user’s desktop, etc.

Exactly the problem…in a terminal server environment, you normally don’t want users to interact with the anti-virus software interface. They have limited (AD user) rights for a reason and any actions required by the avast! software should be handled by the system administrator, not an uninformed user. Additionally, the aswDisp.exe process consumes memory for every users logged into the terminal server.

Does anyone else run avast! on a Citrix/terminal server (win2k3) with recommendations for this issue?

Same issue I got from Symantec Endpoint(EndCareer) Protection. Every single users who log on will run ProtectionUtil.Surrogate.exe and it basically lag the whole system to a point it’s not possible to work.

Is this fix in the lastest server version?

No, this is by design.

I will have to give Avast a skip then. Will look for other software that support Terminal service without lagging the whole world.
