aswEngSrv.exe is back in the 19.6.2383 update, is it back for good?

Is it more stable now or are select users being made to try it out again?

It is there on my win10 installation of Avast Free and it don’t really notice it having any cpu/ram issues. I believe it was trialled in the previous incarnation and probably in the beta. I’m in the UK and I don’t think it was trialled here before.

Mind you I don’t use my win10 laptop as frequently as my XP Pro desktop.

Well it’s back for me and I’ve noticed no issues also, so I would say it’s back and it’s here to stay, which from what was explained to me last time I asked about it, is a good thing. I just don’t like taking part in trials without opting in.

Hi EmoHobo,

“Come with me if you want to be secure.”

I’m only now going to refer to aswEngSrv.exe as “The Terminator.”

I would have hoped that this would actually have given some information on what this ‘new service’ (for some) is seeking to achieve.

I would have hoped that they would have included this in the actual Program release notes, but no mention, people notice new services

But thanks for the link.

This is the most I can find:
