aswMBR...can you help me?

I need your kind help. I infected my pc with “Win32:Malware-gen”, follow instructions using Malwarebytes, TrendMicro’s Fake Antivirus Remover (ATTK) and endlt aswMBR and don’t know whether is a good idea to press on the fixMBR button after scanning. I attach the text file I obtained…I’m worried I can cancel some important file doing it, please help!
THANKS a lot

Do not press the fix button… What problems are you experiencing ?

Hi
Computer was slow and sometimes not responding properly…and especially Avast was bothering me all the time with the Win32:Malware-gen infection warning… I’ve done everything I wrote to remove. Have you read the file text attached to my previous message? I’m not sure whether my pc still contains threads of not!
Thanks a lot!
Federico

Yes aswmbr looks clean follow the steps here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 and attach the logs in this thread

Infezione: Win32:Malware-gen

I’ll follow the procedure on the link you sent me and see what happens…a bit worried I won’t get rid of it…
Am i in danger regarding passwords and codes security?
Thanks

dont worry....essexboy will kill it, he does this every day

Hi Essexboy, I’ve followed the instructions,
not saved any file from the first program you advice to use, but I’ve run it. The aswMBR file is the same I sent you 2 days ago, the OTL is the new one. I still get the Win32:Malware-gen warning from Avast when I open Explorer.
Many thanks

Hi my apologies for some reason I did not get notification of your previous post

Could you run a fresh OTL log please … Are the alerts the same ?

No problem,
I’ve done it, the Run Scan with the attached files in, as you listed in the other post with general instructions.

The alert is the same one, as you can see in the jpg file.

Thanks, F

Are you using this programme at all ?
Anti-Phishing Domain Advisor

Could you disable all addons within IE please

OK,
I’ve done it.

I don’t have the 64-bits option in the OTL I’ve downloaded from your link. Don’t know whether It can be important, just let you know…

Waiting for further replies, thanks
Federico

Did you install this programme DVD43_Tray.exe ?

64bit option will only show on 64bit systems ;D

Could you download and install IE10 from here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-10/worldwide-languages

Yes, I do have DVD_43, is it the cause of my trouble? I can uninstall it if you want me to…
I can also install IE10, but I need to choose in the system what version I’m starting from, window 7-32bits, is it right?

Also to inform you that I’m not receiving the Avast warning any time I’m opening Explorer these days, only sometimes.

Thanks, I’ll proceed with instructions as soon as you can reply this, to be sure I’m not doing it wrong.

Thanks
