aswrvrt.sys boot-up issue

Hi! Searching for aswrvrt.sys led me here, was hoping I could find a fix for this. Windows Vista, computer black screens after the Microsoft Corporation logo, when booting into safe mode it stopped at aswrvrt.sys for 10-20 seconds before moving to the log-in screen. I uninstalled Avast thinking it was the problem, but now it’s stopping at crcdisk.sys. Attached a FRST log, any help would be appreciated. Also, ran malwarebytes and it didn’t find anything, didn’t save the log but I can run again if needed.

Is it still logging in though after the delay ?

In safe mode, yes. Can’t start up at all normally.

OK could you start in safe mode and run FRST again, this time a second log will be generated, additions.txt could you attach both

Scanned again in safe mode, but it only generated the FRST.txt file, no additions.txt.

Oops, completely missed the extra options at the bottom. Just ran the program again.

OK looks like time for a clean boot

In the search box type Msconfig and select the programme that appears at the top

1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

2.Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
NoteThe Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
3.Click the Services tab.
4.Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.

5.Click Disable All, and then click OK.
6.When you are prompted, click Restart.

Does windows load normally

Did both of those, tried booting up 3 times and it still froze in the same spot.

OK from safe mode could you uninstall comodo and try again

When I try to uninstall, I get an error message saying Windows installer service isn’t accessible in safe mode. Tried both the uninstall in the Comodo folder and going through the control panel.

Hmm the next alternative will be to try a system restore

From the safe mode menu select command prompt
Type in the following command and then follow the on screen instructions :

rstrui.exe

Doesn’t work, I don’t think I ever created a restore point.

Unfortunately this looks like a system problem as the clean boot disables all bar windows drivers/services. You may have to re-install

Was afraid of that, gonna have to see if I can find my disc. Thanks for all the help.

Sorry we could not resolve this
