aswrvrt.sys corrupt system won't boot

Win , 64 bit system
Installed Avast, without knowing Kaspersky was already installed
Won’t boot in any mode
Ran the Scan from the FRST file (Farbar Recovery Scan Tool) I found on another post, using the Win 7 Install Disk.
Result is in attached file.
Need to know what to do now?

Do you have a recent full disk image backup of your system?

No I don’t.

Instead of trying to boot in Safe Mode, try Debugging Mode from the boot options…

I tried that. It just goes back to the Windows Error Recovery screen that says:
Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
Start Windows Normally

Go ahead and run Startup Repair.

FAQ’s on Startup Repair…

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/startup-repair-faq#1TC=windows-7

It goes right back to the same screen.

Try to boot again using Debugging Mode, and select System Restore. Hopefully, there is a restore point there before aswRvrt went south…

It just goes back to the Windows Error Recovery screen when I click Debugging Mode. It does not say System Restore.

If you have access to another computer with the same version of Windows, create a System Repair Disk and boot from that.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/create-a-system-repair-disc

You will then get the recovery options that include System Restore…

If all else fails, you may want to read Fred Langa’s article on how to do a non-destructive re-install of Windows 7. It restores Windows but does not destroy your personal files.

However (big caveat), you need to have the install CD. Vendor supplied recovery disks will not work.

Tried the system repair disk already. It says it can’t repair the computer automatically.

Was that a computer vendor supplied repair disk, or one that was created throught Windows 7?

Computer vendor supplied.

That will completely re-install Windows from scratch, and you will lose your personal files.

If you have access to another computer, you can burn what is called a Linux Live CD, boot from that, and then rename “aswrvrt.sys” something like “aswrvrt.sys.old”.

That should get it out of the boot list, and if that is the only “corrupt” file, it should fix the issue.

Did you look at the FRST.txt file that I initially attached? Does that have any useful information in it? The other posts that I have seen regarding similar issues have used that file to diagnose the problem.

This is pretty straightforward…you can’t boot in any mode.

The FRST file didn’t show any sign of infection, but because your system isn’t bootable, it doesn’t create a complete log.

Sorry…
