aswrvrt.sys issues

Hi, i am having an issue booting win 7 64bit, symptoms are:
booting safemode etc hangs on driver aswrvrt.sys, and in normal mode hangs on black screen white cursor…

I have tried to follow many threads where @Essexboy helps so many,
but for what i understand he creates a unique textfile for each case so i could not ‘fully’ try the attempted solutions

I really hope someone will help me…

Peace out

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

[*]Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.
[*]Restart your computer and tap F8 to bring up the Advanced Menu, then click Repair your computer
[*]Follow the prompt to enter keyboard input method, and then the prompt to enter a password. If the machine does not have a password, simply click Enter.

In the next menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Command Prompt and press Enter.

[*] In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
[*] When notepad opens, click File and select Open.
[*]Select “Computer” and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
[*]In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter.

Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.

[*]The tool will start to run. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach it to your reply.

Hi TwinHeadedEagle, thanx for the reply, i have a quick question before i can continue with the FRST scan.

My bios does not have the boot from USB function,
(i know it is very outdated and i have most recent version ready to install, never done this before but i think i am capable,
my prob is i cannot see if this new version 'add’s the boot from USB capability  )

Anyway i am trying this method:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/doing-the-impossible-boot-computer-from-usb-or-cdrom-even-if-bios-not-supported-using-plop/
My question to you is should i install to BootMenu or MBR?

You misunderstood

You don’t need to boot from USB, just plug-in your USB into computer and follow instructions.

I forgot to mention that i have 1 HDD with dual boot (primary: WIN XP 32bit and secondary: WIN 7 64bit)

Maybe i am overthinking this, but if i run the FRST scan from the USB, wont it scan the XP OS, seeing its the main?
It is the WIN 7 that is having the problem.

Appreciate your patience xD

I appologise for late response and seeing the time now and tomorrow being sunday, i suppose you will reply on monday
I will atempt to follow said instructions untill i get stuck.

Peace out.

When you turn your computer, you get image like this, right?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KrtYsdNakL8/Tm627BJFI7I/AAAAAAAABak/Dl1uNDx2aps/s1600/Dual-Boot-Windows-7-and-Windows-XP.jpg

At this point, you press F8 when Windows 7 is selected and then choose Repair your computer. Then just follow my instruction above.

Hi, i really do appologise, i feel stupid
iv been reading soooo many threads about this problem i got so caught up and was overthinking everything.

Here is the FRST log file

Twin is asleep right now. check back tomorrow

Download attached fixlist.txt and save it to your USB flashdrive as fixlist.txt

Start FRST in a similar manner to when you ran a scan earlier, but this time when it opens …

[*] Press the Fix button once and wait.
[*] FRST will process fixlist.txt
[*] When finished, it will produce a log fixlog.txt on your USB flashdrive.

Exit out of Recovery Environment and post me the log please.

Try to boot Windows normally…

hey, i will try the newest fixlist, appreciate all the help.

I dont know if this is valubale info on my situation, but the reason aswrvrt.sys caught my attention is because i was trying to enter safemode to try some solutions and could not boot in safe mode.

The initial symptom for my problem started after using Comodo Program Manager to uninstall some programs,
i was prompted to restart so that the task could be completed,
on boot (cant remember if before dualboot selection or after selecting win7),
i saw a brief text saying Comodo Program Manager is performing force delete… etc,
text dissapeared and then pc was idle and stuck for long no result just stuck, black screen nothing else.

Performing sfc/scannow results in “There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete.” and reboot after reboot nothing changes same issue.

I just thought this info might be useful i dunno.

I want to thank you again for ur time, i respect alot the forum community in general, so thanx again

Here is the resulting 2nd fixlog.

Can you boot now?

no

Sry i thought i wrote down the result

Ok, let’s try it once more

Download attached fixlist.txt and save it to your USB flashdrive as fixlist.txt

Boot into Recovery Environment

Start FRST in a similar manner to when you ran a scan earlier, but this time when it opens …

[*] Press the Fix button once and wait.
[*] FRST will process fixlist.txt

Try to boot Windows normally…

No luck :frowning: i have tried this before, if you want i can send u link to the threads i tried before, concerning scf/ and fixmbr etc

here is the fixlog, in english it says: operation concluded with success btw

I am fearfull this is more complicated? I cannot use my win7 boot disk to repair as it says the version of the disk is not compatible with the version of the OS, which i find strange.

Im just throwing all the info i can out there maybe some of it will spark a solution

Let’s check your HDD for errors

Download MHDD utility from here:
MHDD download link

Unpack and burn as ISO …
Add and boot MHDD from disk ( in the same way as Live CD )

[*] When you load the file select option 1
[*] When the menu appears, select the disk that you’ll scan

Type in:

scan

…and hit enter

[*]In the next menu, click F4
[*]It will begin HDD scanning, allow him to finish scan.

If there is more than 3 inputs in the district UNC X then your hard disk is damaged.

The MHDD file is only 1.46MB in size and results in a readme text file ONLY. is this correct?
Burn to a cd as ISO correct?

I thought i might tell you that my HD is Western Digital and i verify that it passes in SMART
and also using Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics it has a PASS status, i could do a new scan to double check this.

Yes, ISO is very small. You can try with http://rufus.akeo.ie/ and your pendrive.

Using rufus, i get a message saying: ‘This version of rufus only supports bootable ISO’s based on bootmgr/WinPE, isolinux or EFI.’

I can try and find a blank cd to burn meanwhile…
