I realize that this is a common problem and that you guys keep saying that it’s not Avast’s fault, but this is the second time that Avast has updated and wreaked havoc on my entire system.
About four days ago now, Avast updated automatically (without knowledge or permission) before eventually restarting and receiving the BSoD related to aswRvrt (or whatever driver comes after it according to you guys). I’ve done the normal steps of course of trying to repair my system with the limited options I have. Unfortunately, with this model having such a restrictive BIOS menu (which normally doesn’t matter but here it does), I can’t boot a Linux LiveCD to troubleshoot Avast and backup any other files that are important. I’ve tried to check out Avast in the registry using regedit but searches for “avast” “asw” “alwil” etc. don’t even bring up Avast. So I haven’t been able to manually take out registry keys. As with all related BSoD issues that I’ve seen I can’t of course access my desktop or safe mode and the driver authorization for unofficial drivers doesn’t boot the system either.
Maybe I’ve overlooked something or another extremely simple but any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Insert the USB into the sick computer and start the computer. First ensuring that the system is set to boot from USB
