Hi,

I am having trouble booting my laptop with WIndows 7 ultimate. If i try to boot it normally, it stops at the loading windows logo. If i try to boot it in safe mode, it stops at aswrvrt.sys.

I already tried to create a FRST file as suggested in this thread: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=120531.0 , however, when i insert the usb stick in my laptop and try to boot it stops after i see the green bar running and i only have a black screen with a mouse cursor.

Can anybody help me please ? thanks

Are you using the correct version of boot disc for windows ?

If the recovery console is not loading then that would suggest there is a possible hardware problem with your computer

I downloaded the ones you linked in the mentioned post http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=120531.0 . I have a 32 bit win7 system so i downloaded Rufus, the win7 32 bit rc.iso and FRST.

IN Rufus i used the following settings:
Device: (I:)
Partition: MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI computers
File system: NTFS
CLuster size: 4096
I checked Quick format, creat bootable disk using: (selected the downloaded ISO), and Create extended label and icon files

I just tried it again and it stopped at the black screen with the white mouse cursor again.

What were you doing prior to the none booting ?

Could you try this

I have changed SATA mode in bios from AHCI to IDE.

I do not have that option in my BIOS. It seems to me that i only have a very limited BIOS anways. THe only settings i can change is basically the system time and date and the boot order. (it is called Phoenix securecore)

I shut the computer down 2 nights ago after using it regularly (surfing the internet, checking my mails) and then i couldnt boot it anymore the next morning.

What is the make and model of your computer as the hard drive may need checking out

Are you able to system restore from the safe mode menu

The make is ONE and the Model is HLB2

I dont get as far as in safe mode, it always stops at aswrvrt.sys

When you press the F8 key and the menu appears there should also be a system restore option… Is that visible ?

I have the options between:

-Repair your copmuter
-safe mode
-safe mode with networking
-safe mode with command prompt
-enable boot logging
-enable low-resolution video
-last known good configuration
-directory services restore mode
-debugging mode
-disable automatic restart on system failure
-disable driver signature enforcement
-start normally

i suppose you meant the first option. when i choose repair your computer it is loading and then gets stuck at a black screen…

Could you try “Last known good” as without access to the system I am unable to do anything

thats not working either… i tried pretty much all the optoins now, and nothing is working. It wont even let me enter setup when i put my windows 7 cd in… The only thing that worked so far was getting into a “test” version of ubuntu when i put that cd in. i dont know if that is any help ??

All I can offer is a different programme to try and access the computer

Download Peazip to the desktop
Run and install the programme
As it installs this page will show, deselect the AVG ticks
Press decline and it will then install cleanly

Right click OTLPE on your desktop and select …Open as archive

Click Extract, ensure that desktop is selected

Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus

Select the ISO file on the desktop via the ISO icon.

Press Start Burn

Once the USB has burnt then

[*]Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to the flash drive.

[*]Reboot your system using the boot USB you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from USB follow the steps here
[]As the Programme needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads :slight_smile:
[]Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
[]Locate the flash drive and run FSRT
[]The tool will start to run.

i was able to boot into the system, but it seems to be very slow. When i start the farbar, it opens but stays blank and then it is “not responding”… there also is an error that keeps popping up saying "The file or directory $Mft is corrupted and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

This is the master file table for you computer, now normally a chkdisc would be able to fix this

From the windows menu select Repair my computer > Command prompt
At the prompt type the following:

chkdsk /f /r

Let it run to completion and then reboot to normal windows

I tried to run chkdesk, but it only does the 1st step of five, and it says 5 sectors are damanged… after step one it is just asking me for a new command…

To me it sounds as though the hard drive is on its last legs and probably needs replacing

Thanks for your help. I bought a new hard drive now. Do you by any chance have a recommendation for a good programm which can help me get back my data from the old hdd ? When i plug it in a computer with an usb adapter i can see my three partitions when i click on computer, but i can not access them. Maybe a good tool can help me ?
