aswSnx fails to load - but I have updates and XP SP3

I get the following error message in Event Viewer - System on every reboot. (I have Avast AV Free version 8.0.1483 on a Win XP Pro SP3 machine.)

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026
Date: 3/22/2013
Time: 11:02:44 PM
User: N/A
Computer: [Computer Name - I have a Dell Optiplex 755]
Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
aswSnx

Also, after a file search, I can see that I have aswSnx.sys already on my computer as follows:
in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers - version 8.0.1483.72
in C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\Setup\INF - version 8.0.1483.72
in C:\WINDOWS\system32 - version 7.0.4095.0

I checked the other posts on this forum, but I already have SP3 and this is almost a year since Avast said it was fixing this issue.

SO - WHAT TO DO? Thanks.

Zipped and his name

Jefferson: I uploaded my Support Package to your NORMAL ftp site, NOT the one you specify. Your instructions are NOT CLEAR. Have you fixed this problem?

Have you fixed this problem?
not. although I do not use more windows xp.is the least I can do.

send to the topic team

Just for clarification: jefferson santiag isn’t a member of avast software!

DJBone

DJBone - can’t believe I was tricked by this idiot. Hey, Avast, this guy Jefferson Santiag is some kind of fake. Please bar him.

In the meantime, Avast team – the real one – have you made any progress on my issue?

Thanks.

You are showing two versions of the file

in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers - version 8.0.1483.72 in C:\WINDOWS\system32 - version 7.0.4095.0

Have you tried a full uninstall/re-install using aswclear ?

No, but I’ve done Repair twice now.

Will going through the un- and re-install process really help?

Yes I believe it will as you have two different versions of the one file. One is V8 and the other V7

Download aswClear to your Desktop.
