I have a Windows XP start-up issue when updating to 6.0.1125. I upgraded from the free version (virus scan only) to security suite and windows went into a repetitive start up BsoD. I turned off auto restart and figured out it was due to aswSP.sys file, research on the net suggested it was a problem with avast. I uninstalled avast and my computer had no more issues. I reinstalled avast with the 6.0.1000 installer and still did not have issues. As soon as I updated to 6.0.1125, the issue came back. I rolled back to 6.0.1000 and as of yet have not had issues. Anyone else experience this same issue or can anyone provide help?
I’m getting sporadic startup BSODs on Windows 7 64 bit same cause. Mine seems to be when I’m in a hurry shutting down. I may go 2-3 weeks without one. If you’ve got a minidump zip it and upload it.

@ duvaljohnh,
Because you went from a different product and “rolled back,” you should uninstall and do a clean install to fix your problem. There is no need to submit a mini-dump at this point.
Please follow the directions below:
- Save a copy of Avast AIS (if you haven’t already) and save it to your HDD:
http://www.avast.com/download-software - Download the Avast Uninstall Utility http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe and save it to your HDD.
- Disconnect from the Internet at this time.
- Go to Control Panel and uninstall Avast through Add/Remove Programs if possible and reboot.
- If Step 4 fails, boot into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly) and run the Avast Uninstall Tool. Uninstall ALL previous versions and products of Avast on this machine one at a time with a [u]reboot in between each uninstall.
- Reboot.
- Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
- Get Internet access and register your copy or add the license key for AIS.
- Update the Avast definitions.
Let me know if this fixes your problem. Thank you.
