Some advice would be much appreciated.

EDIT: No previous antivirus was on this computer, Malwarebytes was installed sometime back but is no longer on.

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus RC: http://files.avast.com/test5beta/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Have followed your instructions, I’ll see how things go.

Thank you

You’re welcome.

Hello again,
All was going well then all of a sudden computer has crashed twice in a row with same ASWSP.SYS issue.

Please upload your last minidump(s) here: ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming/

C:\Windows\Minidump is empty

Please update to the latest version (7.0.1466). That should solve the problem.

Thanks
Vlk

Minidumps require a pagefile on your system partition. It need not be very large, mine is 16 MB.

That maybe true but where are they if the minidump folder is empty

Nowhere. Without at least a small pagefile they are simply not made.

I’m a newbie, I dont understand what or how I do what you are talking about, I thought I’d post what my settings I can find, are these them? maybe someone can explain what it should be.

I’ve been trying but avast has been siting on: initializing, please wait for over half an hour?

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Thanks re-installed again. Updates working again.

You’re welcome.

Hi
I’m still having the same crashes, is there something else I can try? :frowning:

Today I’m getting crashes one every 5 min or less and its always ASWSP.SYS, I’m wondering if I should just remove Avast?

Just thought I’d ask one more time, my computer will at times keeping going for an hour and then the ASWSP.SYS bsod starts and will happen every 5 minutes. Besides moving Avast I’m not sure what else to do.

  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

Hi
There is no other antivirus installed at the moment. When I got this computer there was nothing installed, I installed Avast and mallwarebytes (trial but no longer installed.) to remove a lot of viruses, I was guided through this big clean up and I do remember there being a norton online storage or something like that. but I no longer see a trace of that.
