Hi, I get predictable BSOD’s due to aswtdi.sys:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop 0X000000D1
aswTdi.sys address F78B1465 base at F78B0000 datestamp 4194e9af
I have tried to copy the older version (28672 bytes datestamp 41962174) over the crashing one (32048), but both XP and avast itself recopy the bad one.
My system now predictably crashes within 30-45 minutes!
I now stopped On-Access protection and hope my system will not crash! I urgently need a new good version that doesn’t crash!
The Stop 0xD1 message indicates that the system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. Drivers that have used improper addresses typically cause this error. Stop 0xD1 messages can occur after installing faulty drivers or system services. If a driver is listed by name, disable, remove, or roll back that driver to confirm that this resolves the error.
Uninstall Avast completely. Reboot your system and check to see if it runs normally. Do not attempt internet access until it stays up and running.
Do a fresh install of Avast. Shut down all non-essential programs except Systray and Explorer.
When install is complete, reboot system.
Do a manual update of “Program” which will update the database and program together.
Reboot again.
NOW…see if the entire system works normally.
Going “backwards” with the versions appears to have corrputed the setup file in Avast. Start from scratch and you should be ok.
