aswVmm.sys is corrupt

I installed a new motherboard tonight and I was able to launch windows 10 once but had to restart and that’s when the problems started happening. I am currently in a system repair loop even after trying to start in safe mode (which won’t even start) I tried repairing windows 10 and that wouldn’t work. any sort of command like chkdsk or any variation simply gives an error saying it won’t let me edit the hard drive. Finally after trying enough and checking the SrtTrail.txt it said that the aswVmm.sys driver is corrupt. I’ve seen people have it fixed for them on this forum so I was curious if I could get some help as well as I really don’t want to go through the trouble of reinstalling windows 10.

After replacing a motherboard, you need to install the OS, drivers etc from scratch.

No I don’t I simply need to reactivate and change some drivers. Everywhere I looked when people changed motherboards they never had to fresh install. And like I said I will only do that if I really have to because I would lose a lot of files.

because I would lose a lot of files
Smart people have a backup. ;)

To avoid problems you really need to install everything from scratch.

Well I guess I’m not smart. But I’m on another hard drive I have that uses windows 7 on it and it’s running just fine.
