I switched from DSL with AT&T to Insight Broadband and I cannot delete AT&T’s on line protection. I tried to uninstall it from Add/Remove programs, I tried through the uninstall file and nothing works. I have warnings coming up constantly saying that AT&T’s update failed. When I click on help it says the help file cannot be located. I currently have all the AT&T features (anti-spy, Anti-virus, pop-up blocker etc.) and when I click on the anti-spy it keeps telling me to delete Avast. I think I have somehow done an incomplete deletion of some of At&T’s on line protection files and now I cannot delete it. I’m afraid it is interfering with my Avast or a th the very least seriously slowing down my computer. How do I get it off?
I have six Trojans detected by new Avast program (all in the chest) and my computer has been very sluggish and strange over the last few days. I want to start the process of fixing this but I think I need to get rid of the conflicting anti-virus program from At&T - correct? I previously had Macafee and had similar issues getting rid of that completely but I think it is finally gone.
As far as the Trojans go - I read the instructions on here and I have disabled system restore, cleaned my temp files, run a boot time scan with no new detections, and enabled system restore again. Before I continue should I figure out how to get rid of AT&T’s program so it is not interfering? Could that be the whole problem?
Once I get rid of that program I will continue on here with how to deal with the Trojans.
I currently have Windows Defender, Spybot, AVG, Ad Aware installed.
You will need to completely uninstall the ATT Yahoo browser and software. As you reinstall you will see a screen that lets you opt out of the online protection. I did so and have no problems. My significant other did not, and has an icon in the tray to deal with that keeps reminding her that her protection may not be installed properly. I can find no settings to get rid of the online protection either.
The problem us that I am no longer using ATT Yahoo as my internet provider. I thought I had uninstalled the ATT browser but somehow I seem to be stuck with a partially working on line protection- won’t scan anything, has missing files but somehow manages to keep telling me it needs attention! It constantly tries to update and sends me failure messages. Now it is telling me to delete Avast. I am using insight broadband now. I must not have completely uninstalled it and now nothing I try will uninstall it. I just did a search for any files or folders with Yahoo! in them because there has got to be an uninstall file but all the ones find allow me to check the box, click uninstall and nothing happens. I rebooted and nothing changed. I suppose I could call ATT I just thought it may be hindering my Avast.

You can try to re-install the software and once having done so, reboot your computer.
You should now be able to properly uninstall the program through add/remove in your control panel.
If Bob’s suggestion fails to solve your problem, I would call ATT Yahoo’s tech support number. Their friendly English-as-second-language staff can probably help with the uninstall.
