ATool 1.0012

Is any one familiar with this tool?
Who is currently using it and what are your findings?

More info available from here

It belongs to a know (good) security developer (http://www.antiy.net/index.htm).
But I never heard about it and it’s not easy to find more info about it… lack of info…

Maybe our Chinese web forum members know more about it. It is also used in Russia, maybe our Russian or Ukranian pals know about it?

At least the downloadlink is clean. Try it out bob, some of these Chinese tools when in English can be state of the art special. You will be the first to report about its workings here,

Sounds like your afraid of it Damien..... :)

You are correct my friend, i cannot find any good info as to what this does at all …
Bob have you tested it ?

Could be my technical prejudice, but I don’t test these foreign tools if they aren’t well known as safe. There are good products from China/Russia for sure. Also there are people that do not believe in a software that come from certain countries. Some people here in Brazil asks if avast come from US… They get surprised when I say that Czech Republic does not only avast but also AVG. It’s a good technology center.

Official site says:

ATool is an advanced security management tool, which can detect and deal with all kinds of harmful programs.
Isn't it so few?

Very few is said by download sites:
Softpedia: ATool is a small, but powerful security management tool, which can detect and deal with all kinds of harmful programs. Softpedia guarantees that ATool 1.0012 is 100% FREE, which means it is a freeware product (both for personal and commercial use) that does not contain any form of malware, including but not limited to: spyware, viruses, trojans and backdoors.

Google and you’ll be surprised of the lack of info.

I’ve sent a few items to them to tell me if the items are good or not.
Still waiting for a reply.

It’s very new, and released with very little publicity.

It looks safe enough, appears to be one of those system diagnosis tools that list various system points (registry, files), processes, monitoring network accesses etc that are often altered by malware. Like a more advanced Hijackthis basically.

So something similar to RunScanner ? I think i’ll let others test it …

I tested it briefly. Seems to be okay and stable enough. Has one or two features that Runscanner does not. Reminds me a little of icesword in some respects but of course it is not really a anti-rootkit tool.

Interesting, what features are that ?

Basically stuff in the advanced sections… Listing of SSDT hooks, Windows message hooks, better process manager that shows dlls etc (the former two are more commonly found in anti-rootkits and some hips).

RunScanner is very good particularly in its area of specialization, but there is no one universal system tool.

A look at the more info link in the first post will let you check out
all this program has to offer.

Hey Bob,are you answering your own questions ;D ;D ;D

Lusher, thanks !

Will keep an eye out on this one …

Why not try it? These days with cheap/free vm and rollback virtualization software, physical machines, it is hardly any hardship to try stuff, and wipe them out if they aren’t what you wanted…
