Audio warning pop-up browser hijack AVAST wont scan

Hi there, I hope someone can help me. I will describe the situation as best possible.

I am running on Windows 7, and have a paid for Avast subscription that does not expire until 1/16. No recent problems.

Today while on a site about Greek wines the browser appeared to be hijacked to page about a warning including and audio message that I have spyware and adware on the computer and need to go to some webpage to get help etc etc…
I could not close the webpage or popup nor perform other functions. I managed to power off the computer and start in safemode with networking.

When I tried to run Avast to do a scan I got a message about no more endpoints or something like for the simple scan. The full scan would not start.

As I type this I am running a full scan with MS Security essentials since that did run.

I have found Avast to be far superior than MS Sec Ess. but I could not run it. Any thoughts or ideas?

I also tried remote help and it said “invalid ticket”

I figured since the ms scan will take some time that will give people a chance to answer on some suggestions. thank you for any help!

Marty

Also I would like to add that bottom right part of the computer Avast logo has a red X and says “You are unprotected” however when I click it shows my license is valid until 1/21/16.

“Avast Internet Security
Valid 1/21/2016
Auto-renewal license”

However at the top of that same page is says Avast Internet Security 2015 BUY IT NOW with a green button?
