AURORA

(I posted this in the wrong thread originally)

"…I’m having a huge problem with the virus AURORA that, once again, has invaded my 'puter. I purchased AVG–to no avail. I just tried the free version of AVAST, and it locked me up. (100% CPU usage, had to end task).

Any thoughts? f’n AURORA is a bugger, and disabling…" (Also, nail.exe)

Googles to Aurora and/or Nail.exe just bring up a, seemingly, endless array of suggestions & supposed “solutions” to this atrocity. They range from installing every available Virus Programs to throwing your PC out the window.

This is crazy! Anyone? I’d be forever in your debt.

thx!

First thing, did you try to use two antivirus at the same time in your computer?
Did you uninstall AVG before installing avast! and then avast! uses all CPU?

Hello Eljbabette,

As you bought AVG, you’d better uninstall avast! and stick with AVG.

You can however use an anti Trojan program alongside an anti-virus program. There are instructions here for removing Aurora using a removal tool for the Aurora program nail.exe, plus an anti-Trojan program called Ewido:

Good luck!

Aurora isn’t that hard to remove if you follow the correct steps.
READ THIS

I was looking for some info on Aurora (nail.exe) for a friend,I tried a search on Avast forum and followed the link by Eddy marked read this. This took me to a site WINANTIVIRUS,which claims it can easily remove Aurora by downloading a tool to desktop. I was a bit suspicious,so googled Winantivirus. To my horror this site is labled malicious. If i am correct and please forgive me if i am not,why would an anti virus forum senior member direct anyone to a bad website ? I do realise the original post by Eddy is nearly two years old,is that the reason

I doubt anyone can say what the differences in a site in almost two years might have on its status. However, siteadvisor has a big Red flag, http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/winantivirus.com.

It may be better to google nail.exe which returns many hits, again this is an old topic, due no doubt to Aurora being around for some time.

Dear DavidR I did google nail.exe first, I must have been blind not to notice the bleeping computer link,it looks very helpful,I will pass that on to my friend.Thank you kindly.

No problem, welcome to the forums.

Hi! Use this removal instruction:
http://fix-computer-problem.com/adware/aurora_dsrch/aurora_dsrch.html

Thanks Mich, I will pass that info on.Is [u] fix-computer-problem.com [u] a new site, I can’t seem to find anything about it, other than references in other forums.Nothing on site advisor / scandoo. Thanks again.

Hi micky77,

Consider this removal instruction here: http://www.spywaredb.com/remove-aurora/

polonus

2 micky 77
the site “is on” for nearly 2 months .
But manuall removal instructions there are realy effective. Removal tool is not rogue, but not free (XoftSpy SE) . You can only scan your system for free. Good luck!

Post an HJT and I will prepare a nail fix for you 8)

Dear Essexboy,Polonus,Mich, and DavidR,thanks for all your links for a solution, and kind offers of help.As I said in my first post the nail.exe adware is on a friends computer.I’ve offered to help him using your advice, but for some reason he prefers to bury his head in the sand. You can only lead a horse to water. If it was on my computer I’d want rid of it yesterday.I will save all your kind advice in case he changes his mind. Its brilliant that people are so keen to help, and a shame that others won’t help themselves. >:( Thanks once again take care

You are very welcome, as you say you can only offer the help.

No problem but the offer still stands if required 8) Have a nice day
