AUTO Sandbox Avast 6.0.1044, Freeware version

Where exactly do the Sandbox files , files created by a program that is Sandboxed go?

I decided to allow the Sandbox to Sandbox a program that is otherwise fine, yet the RED popup indicated it may be a dangerous program. Been using said program for years.

I allowed for the Sandbox to activate for this program and created an ISO file via the program. I had set the program to create an ISO file on my 1.5 TB / W drive.

Now I can not find the ISO file, which I wish to burn, even searching the whole computer via Windows 7 for it.

I have now turned off Sandbox, though it seems like a nice feature, I can not use it until I understand it and know where files are kept, and how to access created files.

I’m not absolutely sure, but I would think that all files created within the avast-sandbox are not accessible at all (this being the purpose of the sandbox).

Pretty much normal behaviour. You can exclude certain folders from sandboxing but running CD burning applications in sandbox does not make sense.

Now you tell me!, Just kidding.

So here’s the dilemma, the program only opens in the Sandbox mode, even though I turned off the Sandbox.

How can I undo what I have done? And since the file that was created is over 4GB, how can I remove all files in the Sandbox so i do not lost HDD space unnecessarily?

Thanks for your posting.

What is the purpose to create something, for nothing?

Since you have not told us what you have done, noone can tell you how to undo it. Also, F1 key works wonders.

Are we talking about Sandbox or Auto-Sandbox in Avast free?

As we learned from the post above, in Sandbox (Pro / AIS) you can add folders in the settings that are reachable. In Auto-Sandbox that is - AFAIK - not possible.

There is no sense in creating something that is needed permanently in the Auto-Sandbox, because it is deleted after the SB is closed.

Staying on topic, as mentioned above, I am curious as to how to remove those Sandboxed files and how to UNDO what I have done, insofar as making the Program Sandboxed.

I wish to UN SANDBOX the program.

Even with Sandbox turned off, when I start the program, the program starts in Sandbox mode.

Thank you for reading this note.

Ahhhh, excellent question, Auto Sandbox in Freeware version.

Maybe it is being sandboxed because it is hackware?

Can’t you add it to the exclusion list in Auto-Sandbox expert setting?

Seems like uninstall Avast with uninstaller, reboot, then and reinstall Avast may be the only solution which I am trying to avoid.

Any less complicated solution, please?

Doesn’t work with the exclusion list???

Prior to writing this topic, I had added the exe file to the exclusion box and that did/ does not stop the Avast from Sandboxing the program.

I may simply try rebooting my system altogether before the more complicated uninstall and reinstall.

Unless there is an easier way.

There must be an easier way… must.

What prog are we talking about? Can I obtain it somehow to test on my PC?

Actually turned on Auto Sandbox and made sure the correct path is showing for the program, still it is Sandboxed. Darn.

Will try rebooting first before uninstalling Avast and then reinstalling.

Unless there is an easier way.

Software is DVD Shrink v 3.2. which is an old, yet excellent file shrinking software for DVD’s.

Okay, that is a prog that needs a setup.

When I start the setup, avast does not kick in. Did you install it in sandboxed mode or did the sandbox kick in when you started the already installed version?

I moved the problem software to another drive and that solves the immediate problem.

Opened it fine using AutoSandbox allowing the program to open normally all the time.

I probably had done that previously, and the reason Auto SandBox was asking today is I had to uninstall and reinstall Avast due to an issue with updating my virus definitions.

I will delete the DVD Shrink program files from my F drive and simply use it from my W drive.

Solution works, but problem not really solved.

Thoughts?

I think AUTO Sandboxed is default ON.
