I have installed avast in 5 computers of 32 bits (friends or family)… And in all, it made almost no impact in boot time… Barelly adding 1 second to the boot time…
However, I installed today in a machine (windows 7 64 bits), and after the installation, it asked me to reboot in order to enable the auto sand box. I did that, and I felt that the boot time was much longer than it was (without AV) and compared with other machines it was very slower too… The other 32 bit machines didnt have almost any impact in boot time…
Is this behavior by design? Or there is something wrong with it?
Autosandbox driver initialization is almost identical as for 32-bit version. Slowdown could be caused by other avast modules (avast service or real-time shields). There are several tools which measure Windows startup time, try to use them - I don’t have own experience.
I rebooted 2 times after the instalation to make sure that it was not only in the first activation of auto sandbox, but the same slowdown was in the boot time.
However, after the windows is already running, it seems to be running smoothly…
