Hi All
I have been using an older version (6.0.1506) of Avast for several years now…simply because I like it…a lot. A while back…maybe a year or so, I read that I could continue using “older versions” on Windows 7 (this computer) by using a “universal key”. I used the “key” and the program has been working perfectly. Lately however, two things have been happening…I noticed that I am NOT receiving updates as indicated by the green pop-up window and the “voice” announcement… instead after the machine boots I get a red pop up window that says the definitions need to be updated but in reality the program shows that I am using the current version. When I select “update” everything on the program turns green…BUT on re-boot the same thing happens again. I tried uninstalling the program followed by re-install and the same thing happens…except that after re-install BOTH windows will come up together (just once)…the green one WITH the announcement AND the RED one asking for updating the definitions.
I tried the latest free version and it installs with no problem....I WOULD PREFER, HOWEVER, TO CONTINUE USING MY OLDER VERSION.....I simply like it better. This is not a computer issue as this machine is working perfectly and always has. If anyone has an explanation I would GREATLY appreciate a reply. The "universal key" is

Thanks in advance for all advice, Radioman
