It seems that my copy o avast has stopped auto updating. have to manualy update. running xp pro, sp2, all critical updates. have reg key. v.(4.6.739) internet connection is skywayusa (sw10 modem) avast 4 home (free virsion). set to check ever 240 minutes. auto is check in virus data base settings.
What version of avast do you have Home/Pro ?
avast 4 home (free)
Did you get any error messages? E.g. the red popup saying that auto-update has failed?
No, I have not heard the message (your virus data base has been updated) for about a week. connection always on. manualy udated 3 times this week.
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work try (probably not), uninstall, reboot, install, reboot, see below.
It would probably be best to download the latest version of avast and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall.
Ok, I found the problem. in avast setting, Update (conection). I put a check mark in my computer is permanently connected to the internet. a couple of minutes later, “the viruse data base has been updated” you know what that guy says. I would like to be a voice on a program. :o I forgot I had unchecked it about a week ago. Thanks guys
Thanks for letting us know, hopefully it may help others as a reminder to check their settings.
Yes, thanks, always nice as DavidR says.
