Hi everyone,
I would like someone to help me in this.
I bought my laptop 7 months ago. It’s a Windows Vista Gateway.
It says that autochk file is not found. Also says that Windows host proces
(rundll32) has stopped working. I can’t hear anything, it says there is a
problem with my sound device. Is there anything I can do?
I remember that few days ago I removed sound man from start up
to speed the laptop, do that has to do with no having sound?
Thanks a lot,
haydee
I scanned for a problem and Windows says a problem caused Rundll32 to stop working.
Any advice to fix this?
I know is not a virus since Avast hasn’t warn me of any.
Please,
Thanks a lot
See if the following will help you fix your problem:

soundman.exe is installed with Sound cards made by Realtek. This process merely places an icon on the system tray for easy access to diagnostic features.
This program is a non-essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected of causing problems.
If you do not allow soundman.exe to start, how will you have sound? The answer is that you will not since this is how you have sound on your particular computer. Though it does place an icon on your desktop, it also controls the drivers for the built-in AC97 sound card. You have, in effect, turned off the sound since the drivers are not active. While there are a few malwares with similar file names, I do not think your file is malware since you obviously lost the computer sound by disabling soundman.exe at startup.
Besides, I would not think that soundman would cause much slow down in a computer’s start up.
