Unless I’m missing something I don’t see any setting under my account which will allow me to receive automatic email notification to my topics/posts.
I seem to have do it manually for every topic.
It used to be the default setting for topics that you either created or contributed to. The problem being you are limited in what you can do in the Profile section until you have 20 posts (anti-spam measures).
When you open your Profile, is there a Notification section ?
If so then enable the ‘Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.’ option.
Personally I don’t use that function I don’t want a flood of email notifications - I use what I consider to be a better option - ‘Show new replies to your posts.’ which is at the top of every page. So when I come back on-line to the forums I click on that link and it displays the replies since I was last on-line.
I only have 16 posts so I assume I have to wait…make it 17 
As I said, by far the easiest/better option to use (certainly for me) - ‘Show new replies to your posts.’
If you aren’t on the forums frequently then the Notify button at the bottom of each topic page that you have been using is workable.

I think the OP is already doing that given what he said.
The only manual function would be the Notify button.
But here are giving him the chance to respond ;D
