hi all,
i’m not 100% positive, but my pc, that runs 24/7, is re-booting at times? is there a feature within avast that may cause this? i see nothing on my screen in the morning to tell me avast did anything after its daily virus scan, but, when i run a program like Piriform ‘Defraggler’ the defrag operation dosen’t, at times, run all the way thru. I suspect it may be becuz a re-boot stops it?
If avast DOES have a re-boot option, how do i find it, step by step, fro the system tray icon?
On occasion, maybe once every few weeks. Last night Piriform Defraggler said i had 17% fragmentation. I started it and then went to bed. In the morning all was ‘quiet’ on my screen, no mention of a virus, or any stoppage. I ck’d Defraggler and it said 7% fragmentation. Something stopped it from running, a re-boot is all i can think of, but HOW did the re-boot happen?
So you are saying a re-scan with defraggler shows 7% after first doing a normal defrag ? have you tried doing a boot defrag as that might clear up the fragmented MFT blocks.
As Alikhan said yesterday was patch Tuesday ( Windows updates ) so maybe your system rebooted to complete the updates.
ooooooohhhhhhhhhh, i knew that! oooppppssss, i shud not fib, shud i? I didn’t know that at all. It kinda nicely fits my time frame & sounds like the culprit!
