we will pass automatically to version 5 soon ? (with the automatic daily updates)
If yes, when?
…Or should we imperatively manually install the new version ?

Welcome to the forums!
A complete removal of Avast 4.8 is recommended before installing 5.0. Personally, I would not wait for the automatic update notification. Get a fresh download of 5.0, than uninstall version 4.8 from Add/Remove Programs. Upon reboot, wait about 1 minute after your virus definitions have updated. Than open up Avast, click on Maintenance, and fill out the form to register. After clikcing Submit, you will be registered for 12 months.
