I got a virus in my pc which is modifying the file autorun.in (when I connect an external hard-drive) to execute a program named “slavica.exe”. Unfortunately, Avast is not able to detect this virus :(. I’m not sure about the consequences of this virus. Is there anyone who is facing the same issue? Is there any solution ( virus removal tool) available? Thanks in advance.
Malwarebytes found a Trojan named ‘ctfmon.exe’ from a local folder. But I think there are multiple infections. When I connected the external hard-drive again, I could see that autorun.inf is modified to call another malicious process (I missed the name). Anyway, I’ll try the other option as well.
Thanks for your assistance.
Yup. I’ve to do that as well. But that particular hard-drive is not there with me right now. The one which I used now is different, but nothing found there when I did a scan connecting the new hd-drive. So, I don’t expect much difference with my old hdd. ???
off topic here: any idea what sort of file attribute these have to make them impossible to delete (autorun.inf)? if for any reason you want to get rid of it you must format your USB ;D Okay, I’m just interested in knowing what they do (@ Panda) to make the file impossible to delete…attributes are “hx”, h for hidden but what is “x” exactly ? this one sounds to be responsible for the impossibility to delete and from what I saw and read, there’s no way to remove this attribute (I know, that’s what’s wanted…).
