AV Cleanup erases "Recent Places" folders

[b]I stopped using Avast Cleanup removal of system junk because it deletes all the folders in the
Favorites>Recent Places.

I keep forgetting where I put things now and then.
Recent Places is a place I go look to remind myself
where I might have placed the items I’m looking for.
Is there a way/setting to stop the deletion?

Yes. I’m still on Windows 7. Ah well…

Hi,

System junk can be cleaned via “Free up space” or “Automatic Maintenance”.
You can also select which files to exclude from being cleaned.

If you go via Free up space > System junk > you will see a list of files. Hovering over each file will explain the type of content that would be cleaned.
You will most likely want to untick “Windows history files”

If you use “Automatic Maintenance”
Go to “Settings” > “Automatic Maintenance” > and click on the arrow to expand the list of files.
Here you will most likely untick the history files as well.

first of all let me sincerely apologize for all troubles associated with usage of our product.
In order to be able to help you I would like to ask you to send the log files so we can investigate where the problem is.

You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Cleanup\tulogcollector.exe and once the logs are collected they will be automatically sent to our server.
Once it is done, please let me know which email address you have used there so we can join the logs with your report here.

Also what would help us in this case if you could specify the exact path to the folder and files which was deleted after you used Cleanup so we can understand your problem better.

I had automatic maintenance turned off.

I use Free up space > System junk >

I found I had to click ignore on System History to
stop the deleting of Recent Places.

I wish that what I did solved all the problems.

I ran a maintenance, not automatic, after I wrote
the note, and I lost “recent places” again. System
junk seems to work fine, I have to look further
into it in the future, but not now.

I will update this if I find a solution.

Hi,

Even with manual maintenance, you can select the files you want to clean.
After you click on Maintenance (manual), you will see Scanning displayed. Once the scan is complete it will display a list of options including System junk.
Click on the arrow for example next to System junk to expand it. You should see Windows history files there as well.
