Set up new win 10 Dell yesterday. Comes with mcafee trial. At setup I said no don’t want it. I thought that would take care of it but no it was still on my system after setup complete. I had dl Avast in the meantime. I was not able to uninstall mcafee (confusing new system) so had to get rid of Avast. I think I have figured out how to get rid of mcafee with a win7 look alike program that takes me to uninstall menu. Anyway, how should I handle this timing wise. Can I download without installing Avast and quickly install after dumping mcafee? Help.
Went to the link provided in your help file and this is what it says:
Step 1: Remove using Windows
The standard Windows removal method is the best way to uninstall your McAfee products.
I looked at the rest of the steps and it is just an add/remove programs menu. Guess I’ll have to do it that way since they don’t really offer anything deeper than that. Thanks.
and then there is…
Step 2: Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR)
You must only use the MCPR tool if the Windows removal methods shown above do not work.

dumb question Pondus - how do I know whether or not step one worked?

I will know if mcafee is still on system and not removed???
Also, does Avast auto install upon download or can I “save” and install after mcafee off? Dumb question 2.
