The new report for June was release today and what i would to ask is how is possible Avast has such poor results against 0 day threats, only 97% below industry average as well, what is going on protection, Avast? i have been using Avast for a while now and this is, i think the worst result i ever saw. I used love Avast protection indeed but every last results from Av- Comparatives; AV-Test and from SE Labs the results are not close to the top in terms of protection.
Sorry i forgot to write down the source. It is one the Pondus told you https://www.av-test.org/en/
I still like very much Avast but i was a little disappointed.
Whilst AV-Comparatives is one of the better ones, I use my own personal experience as my guide and so far in over 15 years use of Avast Free Iām on 100% protection.
Part of that can also be down to my practice of safe hex, plus additional measures and if all else fails a robust backup and recovery strategy.
Iāve been believing some other forums that 3rd party antivirus not really needed, unsure how true that is, but since my last Desktop clean install to fix the issue with Missing Internet Temporary file location missing, so far stuck to using Defenderāwatch me be making a big mistake. Laptop and 3rd Desktop still running Avast Free thoughāmight put this gaming Desktop back on Avast when 19.7 releases to public.
Each Av is never 100 percent protection I do know, try to be as safe surfing as I possibly can be. Has Avast Free been fixed with Windows 10 Pro Sandbox feature if I wanted to use that sometime, or is it best sticking with Defender to avoid that type of conflict. So far only used it to check out a flash drive from a friend that I wasnāt sure was infected or not, supposedly Windows 10 Sandbox cannot infect the host machine from what I read so far
My experience has been similar. Iāve not had a virus on any OS Iāve had Avast installed on from Windows 2000 and up. Iāve achieved that by keeping the OS and all software updated with the latest versions and security updates, not being āclick-happyā (not clicking on links, etc. without fully knowing what it is Iām clicking on) and having a āLayered Security Profileā that covers all āAttack vectorsā.
Smart computing, latest updates/security patches, layered security profile, Recovery strategy (if needed) and Avast have kept me ''virus free"
Iāve managed all OSās and 3rd party software starting with my Brain.
