AV-Test Product Review and Certification Report - 2010/Q2

despite passing the tests, avast is not doing so well :frowning:

There are some unexpected and counter-experiencial results for many vendors there.

Then I guess you should ignore your own personal experience of however long you have used avast and rely on this one test and start looking for a new AV.

If you do that you will never settle for any single AV. avast has stood the test of time for me just over six and a half years of use and no infections.

I don’t see anything detailing what was tested, the conduct of the test, etc. so to me these are just meaningless figures.

This was also a test on win7 with AIS so I don’t see how that reflects on your system, aside from that your signature shows you have an old version of avast, 5.0.545.

Calm down David,

I am not attacking avast in any way, I like it and I am sticking to it, and btw I am using the latest .594 ver. but I can´t help noticing that in recent independent tests, avast is not up to what we are used to and of course, I would like to see avast in the first places on every test that appears on the net, wouldn´t you also?

I’m perfectly calm, it is these types of test where there doesn’t appear to be any information on how to test that are really worth much less than a users personal experience.

If you put too much store in these tests you will never be happy. Many of the test are on-demand only and don’t take into consideration some of the strongest areas of avast; the web shield protecting against what is the most prevalent means of infection, hacked sites; the network shield protecting against malicious sites, etc.

This test is ridiculous Only 16 samples were used.

and LOL LOL bitdefender it the lightest suite they tested… hahahahahahahahahahahaha

I could have agreed with anything when it comes to detection and removal etc. But, I lost all faith in this test when they reported avast! causing slowdowns. Sorry, but this doesn’t happen. Tested on more systems than I can remember.

Surprisingly, AVG Internet Security 9.0 was rated highest. That is counter to a report showing it lagging badly.
