Avagent caused an invalid page fault......

I installed avast on a Win98SE pc and had no problems with the install. I can see it the ADNM but it is black color for the pc. I can launch the program and run a virus scan. I do not see a the the blue ball with the a in the tray. Everytime it gets rebooted I receive the following error:

Avagent caused an invalid page fault in module at .0000.1b10edbd …

Any ideas!

This is related to outdated Microsoft MDAC/Jet drivers.
