Avast 1006 Error

Hi all,

I’m trying to install avast! on my computer, and I keep getting this 1006 self-extractor error. I’ve searched but I haven’t found an answer that applies to me.

Fresh install of Windows 7 x86 from disc.
No other antivirus software has been installed.
This exact same executable works on other computers (it’s on a network share).
This exact same executable worked previously on this computer.

Which version of avast ?

Apparently I did something else to bork my machine, since other things also aren’t working. I’m starting again with a fresh install.
