I am encountering the same issue.

On my notebook PC (running Windows 10), NO programs would execute. All resulted in “the application was unable to start correctly 0xC0000005”. I could not run the Avast UI.

I had to enter safe mode (Start button, click on Power, shift-click on Restart and choose “troubleshooting” and “start up Windows in safe mode with networking”) and uninstall Avast.

I’ve reinstalled Avast from the Web site, and it’s doing it again! The Avast UI won’t start. I will be forced to uninstall Avast again (and leave it uninstalled).

I’ve enjoyed the free virus protection for years, so this is very disappointing.

Why didn’t Avast fix the size GUI size issue with the recent program update?

The only way access to cancel a scan is available to view in the window is not to have the windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

It is pointless posting about these problem as this isn’t the latest avast version, as the post above yours states.

The GUI size is being addressed and that has been mentioned by avast in other posts.

The pause button still isn’t present even in the latest avast version, it looks like this could be in the 17.3.xxxx.

You’ve pretty much answered your own question. Stay with an old version and live with the then existing problems.

You obviously run something on your system that doesn’t work well with Avast.
To solve the problem, Avast needs to look for a common entity that exists on those with problems
and i missing from most of us who have no problems.
(Looking at your signature doesn’t give any one any clue what’s running on your system)

They are views of the topic and not necessarily those having any issues. For those who have posted in the topic, they get notified of new posts, so would be highly likely to view the new post. So it isn’t 500+ unique users, just views.

But I’m annoyed when every year the GUI must change, stuff with no connection with malware is added to the software I use, and I don’t want to be a beta tester.

All I want is a clean system (one with Win 7/64, one with Win10/32)
