Strange, I used the uninstaller to get rid of the last beta before installing the latest release of Avast.
No problem here and the latest free version is running without problems.

I don’t know why it’s doing that way on my PC, but if it is doing it on my PC then it is doing it on other people’s PCs. This is every time i uninstall Avast from maybe a year. I have reported it directly via the support ticket system.
One more thing is that the popup for installing Avast is hiding 4-5 seconds after showing up. There is a Hide button for that purpose, if a user wants it hidden he will hide it. This is dangerous because people can attempt restarting thinking that once the popup hides they can restart the PC. I guess you know what half installed drivers might mean to booting the PC.

And i don’t understand why there are so many unticked by default status monitoring options. If a user has not installed the behavior shield than just don’t display the option to take it into account for your security status. If t is installed it SHOULD be taken into account by default. And program version and definitions auto updates unselected? What? Really? I’m not sure that any of the Avast employees are thinking about maximizing security without being a usability problem. Just display these popups informing you of your status and IF the user doesn’t want to be notified again then he will click an option “I do not want to be notified about this issue” which will deselect the option for him. But making this unselected by default is not serious. Not everyone just stares at the interface 100 times a day searching for issues or enjoying it. People game and/or work and they deserve to be notified if something is not okay with the installation.
Ask should be the default secondary action if Fix automatically fails. With an option to seek help in the forum if this happens. Norton opens the browser and shows manual removal instructions or download of Norton Power Eraser if it cannot remove, Bitdefender opens a help article for example if you have to clear old restore points.

I still have version 11.2.2262 installed and won’t switch to a newer version until all the bugs have been fixed. The August version is by far the worst in a long time.

Hi guys,
my user-defined scans are gone w/ the update last night ???
How do I retrieve them? I don’t really want to rebuild them from scratch and go thru all the options yet again.
Thanks

And can anyone tell me why the default for Program update is Manual??

Default is automatic unless that’s changed in this release ???

Mine was on auto, changed it to ask.

Not sure. I’ve uninstalled Avast, run avastclear and then reinstalled, gone through all of the options and Manual was selected. AvEmUpdate has not updated yet to the build ending with .30 but i don’t think it’s normal.

I just did a reset to default and it was set to manual ???

The fact that many people who are not as experienced with computers will have lost the use of their computers because of Avast’s failure to thoroughly test their software. My Uncle was on the verge of resetting his laptop because it wouldn’t respond. My brother almost took it to a repair shop.
Your failure to test software has & probably will have lost peoples files & cost money because this bug basically renders a system useless. It takes someone with experience to know how to fix this & if I didn’t know how. Most of my family’s computers would of had to be reset, losing info & everything else.
But like always with avast. Don’t expect an apology! You only seem to get that when you subscribe!

Hmmm, guess we need one of the devs to answer that.

Care to explain the “problem” that’s causing this ??? I haven’t experienced this.

I have a problem on one of my home PCs. The other PCs all upgraded OK without a reinstall - even XP mode!
My problem is this:
I upgraded the Free Avast on XP Mode to Free Avast 2017 - I had to completely erase the Avast 2016 as the upgrade just stalled…
Now after finally getting Avast 2017 installed and working I cannot register it. I click on Register, it asks me to select free/upgrade. I select “free” and “no thanks”, then it throws me back to the initial “Your Subscription” screen again. This indicates that I am still unregistered. I have been around this loop many times, re-booted but still the same.
I then tried registering through a web browser and got a code, but it seems that this is only for 2016 and not 2017 and can’t be entered anywhere.
Any ideas

I hope that you have learnt some lessons this time. It seems to me that you are a 5 month company not existing for 25 years or so. It seems to me that your bosses have previously worked at an advertising company, not at Avast/AVG. Next time please don’t act like freaks trying to rush an update as you will be executed if you don’t deliver a buggy product in 1 second. And certainly don’t call something which still has known issues a Release Candidate. I am sure that there would still be issues no matter how long the testing process is, but if you waited for a week more they would certainly be less and you would be more satisfied with a quality product than with a shiny new buggy one.

Hi
It just says "You have not registered - and when I try to register I get into the never-ending loop.

That may be more the fault of the computer than anything else.
