Hello guys, is a new Gaming mode available on Windows XP? I’m asking it because one user with Windows XP installed doesn’t have this component and there is no any words in release notes about OS requirements for using it.

Highly doubt it’s available for XP.

No it isn’t, this point has been confirmed by an avast team member.

5 pages on … but alas no answer to the question of the lost user-defined scans. Any takers?
Also, I cannot pause scans anymore. Any ideas?
With all of these detrimental issues one does start to wonder, why one needed this update so badly.

Part of the problem is posting directly in the notification topic for the release of 17.1.2286, it is a massive topic and posts can get buried. It would have been better to have started your own new topic.
After the fact, this isn’t going to help, but something for the future, before doing a program update it would be worth while to backup your avast settings. AvastUI > Settings > general - Scroll to the bottom of the screen - Back up settings.
That aside - With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
Seems like there was small update:
17.1.3394 to 17.1.3394.30

I don’t know about that as I’m sure I can recall that being there before and not just 17.1.3394. I think even a small update would result in the .3394 part being increased.

I captured an image each time the build number has changed to see when Avast has made changes without requiring a program update. It was February 10 when I received the .30 update.
In case this helps anyone else here:
Until a few moments ago the following situation existed:
My Avast Internet Security:
- was disabled. I got a message saying UI Failed to Load
- Did not allow me to repair it: I got the message Setup is already running
- Did not allow me to uninstall it: ditto
- All 6 shields were disabled
- I had rebooted several times, and also waited nearly an hour to give the ‘Setup is already running’ message the benefit of the doubt.
In desperation I shut down the computer and rebooted it despite no information messages from Avast, except ‘Setup is already running’. And now, it all is working.
I have to say, in my opinion Avast updates are the least user-friendly ones I’ve ever seen. No real information is provided, and it’s unclear from looking at the screen whether anything is happening at all.
With all the images that you link to the forum aren’t you worried that whatever file sharing site you use might fold and these images will no longer appear in the Avast forum?
I really like David’s idea of a secure file repository that he had mentioned in another topic.

I have to agree with you. The old install or update had a large window that showed details as the update happened.
The current version works mainly in the background and it’s very easy for someone to not realize it’s running an shut down the system
to regain control. This can lead to a lot of trouble.
Time for Avast to rethink of how it displays on the desktop while it’s updating.

I am still on version 12 and waiting to install the most recent updates.
Does the offline installer at the beginning of this post incorporate the 17.1.3394 update?
Or, do you have to install 17.1.2286 first and then get the more recent updates?
Please explain.
Thanks
17.1.2286 is the released advertised version number, while 17.1.3394.30 is the build number within that release series. The build number can and does change without any notification of a new version on the Avast site.
This is something else:

Yes, installer from the first page will eventually update to this version.

We already have a secure location on the avast forums, for those who use the forum attachments function. The idea of a secure depository was for the malware removal specialists. This allows them to place their images in-line in the post for clarity and not after the post like attachments. Since they would be in a secure (https) area of the forums. This would prevent the potential issue with mixed/insecure content being imported into the forums.
I need to know that I won’t get charged before the 60 day trial as I have purchased an add on from Avast. I see that within my email it says it expires 02-16-17 yet under subscriptions the expiration date is 03-16-17? I’m not prepared to purchase until March. Please explain as I DO want this protection. Thank you in advance.
I apologize if I’m in the wrong area I am new to forum.

2/16 is only 3 days from now. Contact Avast directly:

Thanks for the clarification.
So if I download the offline installer at he beginning of this post, will it be the most recent build with the most recent fixes incorporated in it?
