Try starting in Safe Mode and running avastclear.exe. You can transfer it from other PC via USB.

How to connect my avast to my avast account after the latest update?
Can’t seem to find any option or button to do that

So no way to link a new Avast installation to my Avast account?
That’s a shame…

This seems to have been fixed recently. It’s working fine now.

just wanted to report that after installing version 17, my automated backup tasks from macrium reflect stopped running (they are initiated by task scheduler), although I can run them manually. I did not have that problem before.

What happened to my ability monitor all of my computers and phones? I am definitely unhappy, to the point of rolling back or switching back to F-Secure on ALL 10 of my computers and phones till this functionality is restored. The one function that separated your AV software from the pack was removed by which genius? >:(

It is a temporary removal and should be back soon (but I haven’t got a firm date).

After installation and reboot I missed the network symbol and the Windows Service Center symbol in the info bar. It was not possible to reactivate them . I had to go back to a system recovery point.

I just updated the program but no new version. I tried to import again and it was still blank. It was working for me a few days ago but now it’s not, perhaps due to a Repair via control panel broke it. I need another repair anyway

Just to ask the team… Is it normal that when Avast quarantines some file to leave 3-4 .tmp files in the directory with the same file size as the detected file? When an on-demand scan is run on these they are detected as malicious and quarantined. And the original file actually stayed intact. I strongly feel as if there is a bug with the engine (or removal process). This is happening 2-3 times now, not once and with different files. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. I deleted the files maybe i’ll try to reproduce it again. :
Edit: See the screenshot. Maybe 10-15 secs later a popup with a select(drop down) menu with the removal options showed. Fix Automatically doesn’t work because as soon as the OK button is pressed the same popup appears again. Block shows the red tray notification and only then on opening the folder the files are not there.

I have updated Free version of Avast to 17.1.2286 (build 17.1.3394.42) on my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit desktop.
Problem with Avast Online Security Settings in Firefox 51.0.1 (32-bit):
Automatic blocking of trackers is not enabled by default. I set this to enabled and it remains set if I close the browser and reopen later, which is fine.
However I regularly use ccleaner v5.27.5976 (in default mode) to remove cookies, history etc. After using the cleaner Automatic blocking of trackers reverts to disabled. This annoying and never occurred with previous versions of Avast Free.
Can you help resolve this quirk please. Thanks.

Avast uses cookies to store the settings. Cleaning those cookies wipes out your IOS settings.

Thanks for your quick reply.
My ccleaner utility has a ‘Cookies to Keep’ facility and after a bit of trial and error I discovered the relevant cookie to keep:
The following cookies (which seemed relevant) were present on the PC:
avast.com
id.avast.com
ui.ff.avast.com
uib.ff.avast.com
However none of these stores the IOS settings.
By a process of elimination I found the one that stores the settings; it has an unintelligible 64 character id:
1586db1a-2556-4ab2-b99b…
Thanks again for your post.
After 3 years of Avast causing long boot times, This build exactly fixed it I now have my 15sec or less boot times as apposed to the 45+ seconds i had on SSD, and all my other systems that suffered from this long boot time have been fixed too.
I just hope the next build dont cause it again. seeing I waited 3 years for fix and had multiple tickets open about it, cause it happen on every system I ever put avast on even when I asked around other on forums they said they were having same issue boot times and that was with fresh installs of win7 threw 10. moment avast was installed was moment all systems start booting slow.
I will make stink about this if next build some how causes it again

I solved the problem running an old restore configuration setting i found in my external hd.
Now also new version backup/restore works.
A new update has been released today (build 17.1.3394.42)
I would like to ask the Avast Team: Is it possible to let us know what are the changes in every new build? In the surface, I can’t find any. Thanks!
