Avast 17.5.2302 & Software Updater issue - Also possible FF issue

This morning I was presented with the Software Updater window opening. The only problem is was completely blank other than Software update in the Title bar top left (see attached image).

As I had no idea what it was about and nothing to click, I closed the window ‘X’ and went to the AvastUI > Protection > Software Updater only to be presented with the big Green tick and ‘Good job, all your software is up-to-date!’ image2.

So I ask myself what was the purpose of:

  1. The software update popup, the fact that it was blank is another issue.
  2. Since all of my software was up-to-date, the only purpose I can think of (not to hard) is this is a blatant add for Chrome. You think avast would learn from all prior options to install chrome being rejected they would take the hint, I don’t want chrome.

Edit: This was on my win10 laptop not my desktop of my signature.

Hi Dave, the funny thing is the FF symbol in the blank screen.
Note: FF ESR did update to V52.2.1 and FF to 54.0.1 recently.

I just ran the updater and it updated FF to 54.0.1

Yes, that is certainly strange, I would have thought that would have been the avast icon. So perhaps it could have been from firefox ???

Remember this was on my win10 laptop that had firefox 45.0 installed and the SU was reporting that was up-to-date.

Confirmed. FF updated via avast from 54.0 to 54.0.1 today.

Blank screen is a glitch (hung window).

Yes, most probably.
