[ol]- Avast reports that it’s in passive mode, I turn passive mode off, Avast offers restart. After restart Passive mode is on. I cannot turn it off.
Avast reports that anti-rootkit monitor if off. Clicking enable does nothing and under Troubleshooting options Enable rootkit scan at startup and enable rootkit monitor remain checked.[/ol]
Same problem here.
Passive mode can’t be turned off…
Repairing Avast doesn’t seem to work. (Ending up with a message to uninstall Immunet.)
I use Avast in combination with Immunet.
Avast tells me to uninstall it from my system, because of a ‘conflict’,
but before the update, it worked flawlessly.
I have one the same problem with the latest update. :o
*Avast reports that it’s in passive mode, I turn passive mode off, Avast offers restart. After restart Passive mode is on. I cannot turn it off.
*Avast reports that anti-rootkit monitor if off. Clicking enable does nothing and under Troubleshooting options Enable rootkit scan at startup and enable rootkit monitor remain checked.
And every time I start my OS, Avast must restart the system …
Same issue and same steps to resolve = same result Stays in PASSIVE MODE.
I did the install but it tells me I’m in Passive Mode and nothing I do will turn it Active. Also Anti Root-Kit is disabled with same effct - I cannot enable it. I do not have Windows Security Installed nor any other AV SW. This is on my PC Win7 & 64 bit.
Did the upgrade on other PC and it is all active no issues, Same OS etc. What the heck?
Have scanned for malware, spyware = removed all, uninstalled Avast, downloaded offline install and installed clean install = issue remains the same.
FYI: when I try to turn Passive Mode OFF the pop-up window specifically states Microsoft Security Essentials, it has yet to identify Malwarebytes or SUPERAntiSpyware. Both existed in harmony with the previous version of Avast prior to the update on the Win7 64bit machine that has the issue And on the second Win7 64bit machine that does not have the Passive Mode issue.
SW updated Virus definitions this am and a Complete system scan And a Boot-Scan found no problems.
I still have the same problem as everyone here with a repair done.
Avast detects a “Microsoft Security Essential” that does not exist on my machine!
I can not disable the “passive mode”.
I can not turn on “anti-rootkit defense”.
And I can no longer disable “Avast agent management”.
Same problem here.
i cannot turn off Passive mode.
(avast detects a Panda Antivirus 2012 on my pc but I have removed this long ago, and removed any traces from registry too).
Also, I am not able to disable avast with this new update, like TheLightgg said.
