Avast 18.3.23339 ,Shields Disabled

Avast Program 18.3.23339 (build 18.3.3860.316)

I keep getting a pop-up box on the desktop to indicate Avast is disabled
Going to Control Panel/ Security and Maintenance I can see its OFF
Click “Turn on” for Avast - nothing response

On windows bottom tool bar, Avast displays all 5 shields Disabled - cannot enable

In Control Panel/ Uninstall Programs, I have repaired Avast - no good

In Control Panel/Admin Tools/Component Services, all entries concerning Avast are running

if I go to Avast Main Interface it displays "You are Protected
I can even run a Smart Scan

So, am I protected or not ?

OS:- win 10 Pro

No other AV apart from Win 10 Defender disabled

No other security software installed

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Solved

Ignore the warning about Shields disabled
Choose “Disable until Computer is Restarted”

Restart PC and it now works
