You can run anti malware/spyware programs alongside Avast! (such as MBAM or Win Defender in 7) but it is not advisable to run two antivirus program together ie AVG with Avast! or Microsoft Security Essentials with Avast!. MSE is renamed Defender in Win 8 therefore is a different program to Defender in Win 7.
Of course they do, however, I am sure you also understand the difference between the two types of programs referred to so there is no point in derailing this topic further.
Unfortunately it also gets things supremely wrong as it has classed the official facebook app for windows 8.1 as a virus, and I can’t even take it out of the virus chest so it’s unlikely to be usable for good.
With everything else that has gone wrong since I upgraded to avast 2014 and then windows 8.1, I’m feeling that I should never have installed avast 8 on my laptop and stuck with windows defender even with all the problems I’ve had with that.
Hi, I installed avast internet security, firewall does not work, an error firewall is disabled and does not turn on. Installed on a clean windows 8.1 operating system, what could be wrong? Thank you for your help.
would you believe it, avast 2014 as started blocking ipv6 teredo now, working yesterday fine, ive uninstalled, wiped all avast entries, installed again, still blocks teredo ipv6 when firewall is on, also, when using secureline it completely disables teredo, never used to with previous version, I could still use it.Thisis really peeing me off, reinstalling/repairing and nothing comes it. Does anyone know what rules to add so teredo ipv6 will work without having to turn firewall off and on first. Don’t understand why its just started blocking it though, the rules must of been there before.
I have a question in relation to updates. The main reason I went with Avast is of course it is free, but the updates are smaller in size than Trend Micro’s products.
I am assuming the virus updates are still small in the new version less than 2mb ? As I have a limit of how much I can download each month .
