Avast 2014 and XP - Update on progress please

Hello Avast

Can we please have an update on the progress of fixing the bug in Avast 2014 that seriously impacts Windows XP users.

I now have Windows XP computers all disconnected from the Internet because they don’t have AV installed as I had to spend 2 days fixing these computers after the disaster of installing the 2014 update and subsequently have had to uninstall Avast on these machines.

Unless I have some assurance that someone is working on the problem I will have to consider installing an alternate AV product as I cannot have these users disconnected from the Internet for much longer.

An update on progress would be most gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

T.

Same problem here using Windows XP SP3. I temporarly switched to AVG, which is speedy and works fine.

The new version of Avast caused several of my normal taskbar icons to not load on PC startup.

I tried installing and uninstalling Avast several times. Same thing happened each time.

I would like an update on progress too, and a potential time frame for a fix. Thanks.

[/b]XP WILL NO LONGER BE SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT AS OF APRIL 2014…

Ya think avast is going to care about their software supporting your OS when you wont even get a security update from Microsoft?
Ya think avast want to hear all the bellyaching an skwaking when your system get infected or broken?
Ya think avast wants that responsibility dumped in their laps?

… I’m sure Avast will at LEAST keep up with it until April 2014. I assume the bugs will be gone next version. Patience.

The calendar says it’s not April 2014 yet.
There are tons and tons of XPs still out there.
avast can cease to care about functionality with XPs when April 2014 does get here.
Otherwise, for NOW, it would behoove avast to fix whatever issues avast 2014 has with XPs.
Otherwise it would lose a lot of customers.

I think the structure of Windows XP will remain much longer. Maybe new features cease to be supported, but the main functionality seems to go much further.
Do you remember how long it supported Windows 9x even after Microsoft deprecated them?

How is that relevant to a ‘FREE’ product?

I think no one else mentioned about Avast Free. But Avast 2014 in general.
