Since updating to the latest Avast realise I’ve regularly been getting the dreaded Blue screen of death
Now I’ve used Avast fr many years without a problem and like the program but at the moment I just can’'t use it
My Laptop is Acer with i3 330m processor 4gb RAM initially I did not connect Avast with the problem and did the usual checks to file system drivers RAM etc all checked out OK
But it was still crashing I Googled the problem and downloaded a crash dump analyzer which pointed to Avast
Is something going wrong? Avast has always been great as an AV but when I logged onto my other PC with Avast it worked fine but has become a real nag what with’ your system updates are CRITICAL’’ - to me not to have the very latest version of Foxit reader is hardly critical - then when that’s gone another popup about some ‘‘special offer blah blah blah’’
Avast AV is very good but I hope it doesn’t go the way of so may others and try to be too clever
Well, all software updates can be critical because they often fix security issues.
That goes also for FoxIt reader/
Yes true Eddy but most programs will report an update, and the risk from opening a PDF file is comparatively low compared to a malicious file or execution of a malicious script from the net
My point was Avast has allegedly caused my BSOD yet there seems no fix - also today my friends PC stopped connecting to the internet after installing the latest Avast update - I was there fortunately at the time, the wireless adapter just wouldn’t connect and wouldn’t then find a wireless network I had to remove Avast then the wireless PCI wireless card, reboot machine restart and install driver from the original CD
Before I uninstalled Avast the wireless card was not working properly - now it is I have seen exactly the same over the last two weeks on separate XP machines each with Avast- each time the owners bought new PC’s now I’m wondering if there could be a link?
I am having the same issue on two different machine running win XP sp3 and also on one laptop running win 7. This appened with the latest version of Avast 2014. Is there any solution?
