Back again…

After several months of using the safe mode work around, I attempted to install avast the normal way with the same result. After reading some replies, I got curious as to whether MBAM was the program causing the conflict with installation.

I went into safe mode. Used avastclear to remove the Avast. Then, I disabled MBAM from starting in the services tab of msconfig. Restarted the computer into normal mode and attempted to install avast. Guess what… No Problems this time. I was not even prompted to reboot the computer after the installation completed like all previous attempts had required. Avast loaded up, and started a scan as expected. Clean install.

MBAM is in fact the program causing conflict with Avast installation of the newer versions.
