Avast 2014 - Kills browsing, shields doesn't work and crashes

Another week, another huge bug in Avast 2014…
This is getting old real fast, so tired of Avast 2014 and the huge amount of bugs.

Disabled all shields today, because I was having issues contacting a Lync server, because I know how many issues Avast 2014 has caused. This time it wasn’t Avast, but a server issue.

But when I turn back on the shields, I can’t access any websites. So I turn off all shields and it works again. sigh

I then enable all shields and try to disable all shields one at the time, to figure out what’s causing the problem (oh boy how I love wasting my time, hunting bugs for Avast). I disable (or did i…) web shield and it doesn’t help. The UI says it’s disabled, but the configuration page is not, what the beeepp. So I disable File system shield and now my internet works and at the same time i try to disable … or enable web shield again, but now the UI crashes. Now I’m stuck with a non-responsive UI, which I can’t kill and I can’t access new pages again, what a disaster.

I had to kill Avast via process explorer and now running with web shield off, I think… because now I have internet. But I can’t really be sure, because settings says it on, but Avast claims one shield is disabled and I can’t enable it. ::slight_smile:

Running beta build 2014.9.0.2007 and beta def 131107-2

I can also confirm that the Avast! 2014 Web Shields dork up the Microsoft Lync 2010 client.

When web shields are running, incoming calls blip for a second and then die. Outgoing calls including joining conferences freeze for about 10 seconds and then eventually go through.

I have turned off Web Shields and won’t turn it back on until I have some sort of idea that Avast! has addressed this issue.

I also suspect this new antivirus software version was interfering with my BlackBerry Link software communications over the network to my BlackBerry 10 devices, because the second I turned off Web Shields BlackBerry Link prompted me to connect to my device over WiFi which it had been having some trouble doing.
