I’ve just installed Avast 2014, and the first thing I noticed was a Windows (Windows 7 64bit) action center notification telling me that I don’t have any antivirus running, and that both Ad-aware and Avast are turned off. Meanwhile, both seem to be running according to the task manager, and both seem to be running according to their own program icons. Is there a reason Windows doesn’t recognize Avast even though it is turned on? And are there compatibility issues with Ad-aware, or is the fact that Ad-aware is no longer recognized as running just a massive coincidence?

Reboot a few times and see if the problem is solved.
This is a well known bug in the action center.

And are there compatibility issues with Ad-aware,
i would think so as AdAware now is a full featured AV program. http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

running multiple AV programs will give you a slow machine, windows errors and false detections

Can confirm that as someone who had an issue with the control centre not recognizing the av or firewalls being on but rebooting did fix it. Though the centre says it is switched off the services on windows and avast will confirm that they are switched on. I did about 3 reboots and i’ve not had any problems since.

@Pondus
I know, but for that reason I’m still using an old version of Ad-Aware, from back when it was only an anti-malware (and not an AV) software. :slight_smile:

@everyone
Thanks, I’ll try (and re-try) and hopefully it will work!
