This is actually a well known problem of avast. Users who are using Java based application or applets within the browser, fails to work in most cases. You can search this forum for the problem. Unfortunately, you won’t find any solution to this. Instead of going for all those repairs you may try these (which may or may not work for some):
-
Make exclusion to the website in global exclusion list (You’ve tried this) : Didn’t work
-
Go back to version 9.0.2007 or apply the patch (ashWebSv.dll) provided by avast (http://public.avast.com/~rypacek/patches/) : Some people reported to have got the solution
-
Disable Avast Webshield : This is the ultimate solution
Its bad but it is the only solution if you are stuck with version 2008.
And a recent report from a user who had problem with java applets said, the new version 9.0.2010 RC2 worked for him. So you may try that or wait for its final release.
P.S: I am one such user who have problem with Java based apps! I am waiting for the new release
Your problem might be different than the rest or your java might work in different fashion or deploy different protocol but the symptom resembles the same. Hence the opinion. You may try if you like or contact the technical support!
