Avast 2015 Bluescreen with NG installed

Hi There

Problem:
I just updated my Avast to the 2015 version (liked everything so far). Problem, when ever I start a scan, be it smart or fast scan, I instantly get a bluescreen with the Error Message: system_service_exception (vmmaswr0.r0)

System Info:
Windows 8.1 64 bit, all the updates
No other Antivirus
Avast 2015.10.0.2206
VMware Workstation installed… if by any chance this is related ^^

“Solution”:
because in the following totaly unrelated thread, the solution was to uninstall the NG module, I tried it as well and alas, no more blue screens…

Personally I would suggest not using Avast’s NG feature if you use virtualization for other things (I’m also a VMware user like you). Different virtualization subsystems do NOT like to share the same machine.

Likewise, you can’t use Microsoft’s Hyper-V solution with VMware.

Thanks for the fast answer. I guess this will be a permanent solution then. Still, I would consider this a bug since every not so tech savy user who runs into this problem might curse AVAST about it.
Admittedly, there won’t be a lot non tech savy users with VMWare installed ::slight_smile:

Edit: now I just have to find a way to mark this thread answered… hmmm.
