When I set a password to protect the Avast settings and close the GUI when I reopen it and go to Anchor Locker it gives me a wrong password error when I put in the correct password. I have Pirate Talk as my language and I hope this bug will be fixed in the next beta. Can this be reproduced?
Well, I have set a password in a friends’ computer yesterday and everything work as it should.
Are you sure you’re typing correctly? No wrong CAPS, etc.?
I’m typing it in right but it still gives the wrong password error on Windows 8.1 64-bit.
Was there a password set on the previous version?
Is this a clean installation or a upgrade?
It was a clean install and there was a password on the previous version.
I suggest an installation from scratch:
- Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
- Download the latest avast! version and save it.
- (Optional) If you want, save your avast! settings for later restoration (Settings > Maintenance > Back up).
- Uninstall avast! from Control Panel (if possible) and reboot.
- Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1 in and follow the instructions. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode, uninstall avast! and then reboot in Normal Mode again.
- Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Register your free copy or add the license key for the paid versions. Boot.
- Check and post the results.
Please, be patient, boot when it’s said to boot…
Little correction if you want to install the beta:
The link to download it is here:

Thank you for helping me and I will download the beta again. Could that be considered a bug? Just wondering.
Who knows.
Give the clean install a try and lets see what happens.
It could be a glitch, a bug, or a alien trying to take over your mind ;D
I tried a clean install but I got the same Wrong Password error and I put the password in right. I guess I may have to wait for the next beta update to be released.
Really? Step by step as I’ve posted before, using avast! uninstall tool?
I followed your instructions and used the clean uninstall utility also. It must be a bug on my Windows 8.1 64 bit system. Thank you for helping me.
